Patricia Arredondo is a writer and an editor. Author of the children’s storybook Acércate (Get Closer), published and translated into Catalan by Editorial Tramuntana (Girona, 2014). This book was selected to represent Mexico at the 25th Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, it was shortlisted in IBBY Mexico’s Guide of Recommended Books for Children and Youths 2016, and selected by SEP (Secretariat of Public Education) and the Ministry of Culture of Argentina to be part of its public libraries.
She studied Hispanic Language and Literature at the UNAM’s Faculty of Higher Education in Acatlán; Literary Creation at the Xavier Villaurrutia Literary Creation Center; and History of Art at the Cloister of Sor Juana University. She was a grant holder at the Foundation for Mexican Letters in the field of poetry during the 2013-2104 and 2014-2015 terms.
Part of her work has been published in electronic and print magazines, such as Fundación, Este País, Tierra Adentro, Tres Pies, Oculta Lit, Digo.palabra.text and Liberoamérica. She has participated in international book fairs: International Book Fair of Palacio de Minería (2014, 2015), Zócalo International Book Fair (2014), Salón del Libro Infantil y Juvenil de Madrid (2014), Frankfurt Book Fair (2016). Additionally, she has given lectures at national private and public education institutions, focusing on spreading social inclusion through reading among children and youths.
At present she is editing the project Oscuro entre nosotros, an anthology of writers born in Estado de México, which has the objective of generating critical discussion on social problems through literature.
